Reports - Mobile

Gain insight into how to create and use reports on mobile devices to better track your data.

When you start tracking, the map now displays a Add Report blue button. This button will allow you to start a new Report at the device location. 

You could also long press on the map and create a new Report in the location you long pressed on the map.

 

 

Reports Dashboard

On the bottom navigation menu you will find the Reports icon.

In this view you will be able to see the state and settings on the Reports made by this device:

  • Add New Report - By tapping on the button, just as the one in the map, it will start a new Report in your current location.
  • Saved drafts - Will let you know the reports you currently have in saved state. By clicking on the tab you will preview the list and can go back to a report to edit it or submit it from the list. 
  • Pending Sync - If you are offline, the Report will be saved locally and when an internet connection is available it will send the Report. If there is an error uploading the Report to EarthRanger the Report will be saved locally. When visiting the Reports tab again it will try and upload the Report. 
    • There are 3 different sync states that you can see here:
      •  Pending Sync  - Reports pending to be synced
      • Syncing - Sync is in progress
      • Sync up to date - Anything else pending to be synced 
  • Status: A card will display with the information of this session such as how many Reports where submitted and when was the last sync. as long as you were logged in and using the same user or profile.

New Report 

To create a Report, the first step is to select a category. By default, you will get a view where you will select the category and then the Report type. 

This can be modified in the settings option to combine all report types in a single view by picking a category first. 

The color of the icon will display according to the default priority for the Report type 

  • Grey
  • Amber 
  • Green 
  • Red 

Once you have selected the category and the Report type, a new view with the details of the Report will be displayed. The location is where the Report is happening, by default the location for the Report is the location of the device. You can edit location or add a Report Area depending on the Report type.

If you are online the location will look as a preview of the map that you can edit via tapping it. If you are offline, the location will appear as a gray field with the latitude and longitude that you can manually edit as well. 

You can start adding the details of the Report you are creating as well as notes, images found on your device gallery or directly open the camera on your device.

When ready, you can submit your report by tapping on the Submit button in the upper right of the app bar. You can discard the report by tapping on the Cancel button on the app bar or save it as a draft on the icon on the bottom right. 

This will return you to the Reports dashboard view. If you have unsaved data in the Report you will also be prompted on whether you want to discard the data or save as draft.
