With the release of EarthRanger Web Version 2.100.1, we're excited to introduce a new feature that enhances the way you export event data: File URLs. This feature is designed to streamline your data management process by providing direct access to event attachments right from your exported CSV files.
What are File URLs?
File URLs are short-lived links that provide direct access to attachments associated with events in your EarthRanger system. When you export event data, these URLs appear as a new column in your CSV file, allowing you to easily view and share attachments related to specific events.
How to Use File URLs in Exported Event Data
- Filter Events: Begin by applying filters to your Events Feed to narrow down the data to the events you need.
- Export Data: Click on theĀ Field Events option to export the filtered events. This action generates a CSV file containing the event details.
- Access File URLs: In the exported CSV file, locate the new column titled "Attachment Links." This column provides short-lived URLs for any attachments related to the events.
- Share and Access Attachments: Use these URLs to access or share the attachments securely. Note that the links are temporary to maintain data security.
This feature streamlines data management by allowing direct access to event-related attachments, ensuring efficient and secure handling of your data exports.
Security and Sharing
File URLs are designed to be short-lived for security reasons. This means that while you can share these links with others, they will expire after a certain period. This ensures that your data remains secure while still being accessible when needed.
