App Refresh Settings in EarthRanger Web

The App Refresh feature controls which elements of your EarthRanger Web are preserved when you refresh or reload the page. App Refresh settings are enabled by default — meaning your map view, filters, and interface preferences will now remain consistent when the page is refreshed or reopened in the same browser session.

This improvement helps users maintain context when switching between browser tabs, reviewing data, or reloading the application after updates.

What’s Preserved by Default

When App Refresh is enabled (default), EarthRanger will automatically remember the following settings:

Map position and zoom level – The map reopens in the same area and zoom you were viewing.

  • Event filters – Your selected event filters stay applied.
  • Patrol filters – Patrol visibility preferences remain active.
  • Map levels – Chosen map layer visibility and level settings persist across refreshes.

Previously, users needed to manually activate this behavior. Now, it’s enabled automatically to streamline your experience.

Managing App Refresh Preferences

If you prefer the previous behavior — where settings reset upon refresh — you can adjust your preferences in the Settings menu:

  1. You can find Settings menu on the left Side-Bar Navigation
  2. Select Settings > General.
  3. Under App Refresh, unselect any settings you don’t want to persist after refreshing.

You can individually toggle map position, filters, and map levels according to your preference.
