Supported technology/Marine Domain Awareness
Self-Service
Prerequisites
Data Source
You will need:
- Skylight account.
- At least one Area of Interest (AOI) defined in that Skylight account. You no longer need its unique identifier — Gundi lists the AOIs your account can see and you pick one from a dropdown.
Data Delivery
EarthRanger
- A special EarthRanger user (e.g., “Gundi Service Account”) for this integration. Please refer to EarthRanger's documentation or contact Support.
- A long-lived token for authentication assigned to the user created in the previous step. Please refer to EarthRanger's documentation or contact Support.
- Confirm that the required event types and schemas are configured in EarthRanger. Consult our references here.
- Update the EarthRanger user (e.g., “Gundi Service Account”) to give it permission to the event type.
Smart Connect
- Ensure that the necessary categories and attributes are established in your SMART CA data model beforehand. Consult our references here.

Configuration in Gundi
Login to Gundi.
Click on Create Route.
Select Skylight.
Configure your Skylight credentials under Username and Password. Enter these first: Gundi uses them to look up the Areas of Interest your account can see.
Under Area of Interest (AOI) IDs, click Add Item and choose an AOI from the dropdown. The list shows every AOI your Skylight account has access to, by name and size (for example, Maputo — 5,743 km²), so there is no need to copy an identifier across from Skylight. Repeat for each AOI you want to pull events from.
Pasting an identifier still works. If you already have an AOI identifier, you can type or paste it instead of picking from the list, and existing configurations keep working unchanged.
The identifier must belong to the same Skylight account as the credentials above. If it does not, Gundi skips that AOI and records a warning rather than pulling events, so double-check it against the dropdown.
Select the Skylight event types of interest.
- By default select “Dark Rendezvous”, “Standard Rendezvous”, “Vessel Detection”, and “Fishing”.
- Visit Entry (Skylight Help Center) to learn more about the user needs and conditions that benefit from Entry events.
- Visit Speed Range (Skylight Help Center) to learn more about the user needs and conditions that benefit from Speed Range events.
Select your Workspace.
Enter a name for this Route (e.g., “Skylight - AccountName”)
Click Next.
Click Add destination on the flow map and select a destination. Please consult our guide.

Note on Latency
The time it takes for data to appear in your destination system depends on several factors, such as latency introduced by the source, network conditions, and intermediary systems. While these factors may vary, Gundi typically checks for available data at scheduled intervals (approximately every 5 minutes).
If data is not available in your system after this interval, please check the source of the data for its availability. If the issue persists, contact our Support team for assistance.
