Manage Web Login Credentials and User Access in EarthRanger

Accessing EarthRanger on the web is simple, whether you're setting up your admin account, logging in with a username and password, or using a user profile. Follow these steps to get started and manage your EarthRanger site efficiently. 
 

Admin Account Creation

To set up a new user account in EarthRanger, including configuring permissions and user profiles, refer to Managing Users in EarthRanger Admin.

 

Resetting a User's Password 

If you forget your password or need to reset it, contact your EarthRanger site administrator or the EarthRanger support team member who can assist you with the generation of a password reset link.  
 

  1. On the EarthRanger Admin page navigate to User Accounts > Users. 
  2. Select or search for the user that needs would like to reset their email address 
    Note: Make sure that the user has an email address in the email field.
  3. Click on the Email Password Reset button. 
  4. The user will receive an email with their username, the site in question (e.g. in the format https://<your_organization>.pamdas.org), and a link to reset their password. 
    Note: The link is valid for 48hrs for security reasons. 
  5. Once the password is reset, the user can log in with their new password.  

Reset via Password Form

Use this method only when a user has already been created in the system but does not have an email address configured or does not need one. The password reset form is not available during initial user setup.

  1. On the EarthRanger Admin page, navigate to User Accounts > Users.
  2. Select the user whose password needs to be reset.
  3. On the user's detail page, locate the Password field. You will see the message: Raw passwords are not stored, so there is no way to see this user's password, but you can change the password using this form.
  4. Click this form to open the password reset form.
  5. Copy the form link and share it directly with the user so they can set their own new password.

Logging In to EarthRanger

Logging into EarthRanger can be achieved with a username and password or by using a user profile for enhanced security (for more information, see Profiles).
